My garden's more healthy than me...

I'm feeling better at least. I'm not 100% yet, but better. If you remember last summer I said I was pretty sure I had West Nile... well I seem to be having some rebounding effects from it. Symptoms I'm having match viral encephalitis perfectly. A constant headache that last a week, stiff sore neck, dizziness, fatigue, feverish, and what's been the biggest indicator in me, a sensitivity to light. Sunlight, house lights, it doesn't matter, they all bother me and make my head hurt worse. And this is the second time in 2 months that it's happened. Poor Hubby is stressed out worrying about me. But I'm signing up for student health insurance at UNT so that I can get this checked out sometime soon. I'm just toughing it out until then.

Other symptoms that occur in some people is confusion, lack of concentration, and memory loss... but with me who the hell could tell? haha

On the brighter side, at least I have healthy tomatoes! I guess I picked a good year to grow them. I have no shortage here at my house...

I also have a zillion jalepeno peppers. Literally a zillion. Between them and the tomatoes I can make a mean salsa soon.

My zucchini plants have been doing better too. I've been watering twice a day lately and seems to have made the difference.

Plus I have carrots, watermelons, and pumpkins that still have a lot of growing to do. They're Big Max jumbo pumpkins, so they have a long time to go yet. Anyway, hopefully all these home grown veggies will be good for me!

Oh WOW, I'm impressed with your
green thumb', garden looks super. My friend Karen would have been proud of you, she grew some patio tomatoes last year for the first time in her life. I showed her how to dry the seeds and plant and transplant.

Sending you best wishes to find out soon whats going on with your health problems. This sounds scary, is there not a free clinic you could find in Keller?? I know its the pits not having adequate insurance. Take care now. j.d.

Thanks Jaydee. Nope, no free clinics that I know of around here. Not that Hubby would trust them to touch me anyway, he doesn't even trust the abilities of the county hospital in Ft. Worth.

Sorry you're feeling so bad. I don't know if it's similar, but when I was little my dad would have some sort of relapse from malaria he had when in the Army. It happened only every 2-3 years, and eventually quit altogether. He's a robust 87.

I think maybe your crops are sucking all your vitality, those are some great looking veggies! I have about 20 sickly tomatoes-on 6 vines!-and a few very nice cukes. My summer produce will work out to about $120 a pound!

Get better!

Anna this is the first time I've managed to actually grow tomatoes, all I've done before was grow the plants! lol But my problem was I grew them too late, so by the time they were flowering it was too hot for them to pollinate (I read the pollen gets sticky when the temps hit mid-90s). But this time I used the variety "Early Girl." Maybe try them next year?

Then I have cherry tomatoes that are growing well and producing like crazy. My third variety is a "Beefsteak" plant, it has ONE lonely tomato on it. It's flowering still, but it's too late and too hot for it. :(

Well, you can't plant too early, they won't thrive when the temp at night is below 55, so there's just a window in these hot climates. I've had varying success with Early Girls, do better with Better Boys. I discovered a variety this year called Heat Wave that's supposed to do well in hot conditions. I may try these next year. Good luck!

Well ladies, Better Boys would be better than Early Girls anywhere.............lol...........makes sense to me.
