What I learned is...
Just have to mention a tidbit of info I found out while composing a writing assignment for Government class, regarding the big-business-and-medical-industry funding of election campaigns for biased judges in Texas and its effect on citizens.
Thesaurus.com doesn't have a synonym for the word SCREWED.
Thought I'd pass it on.

Draft Day fun...

This was his "baroque", like the one I showed with the pears/sherry... dark background with a light shining on it. You can see the shadows from the Pringles can and football, which he's getting better at. His lettering's good, that's hard to do, and his Denver horse is good.

Odds & Ends...
Sorry for the lack of posts on here lately, but well... I just haven't had much to say.
I finished a painting in class, but I haven't had a decent photo taken of it yet to show y'all. It'll be on here soon.
Hubby and I took a trip up to UNT to tour the campus. Many moons ago I had friends who went to school there so I've seen the residence halls (quite a bit of the residence halls in fact, LOL) but hadn't ever really ventured around the rest of the campus. During the tour we were taken into one of the residence halls, and the room my friend Erika lived in was a few doors down the hallway... boy that brought back memories. Then there's several new buildings and they are in the process of demolishing one of the halls, but I still recognized a few places. I couldn't believe all the snack bars, coffee bars, food food food for sale everywhere, and then a huge new rec center, rock climbing wall, personal flatscreen tv and headphones on each stationary bicycle, hot tubs, internet connections everywhere, lounges with pool tables etc, the list goes on of all the "ammenities." I told Hubby, screw paying the mortagage and property taxes, I'm never coming home again, HA!
He was not amused.
But here's what I didn't plan on- from talking to Financial Aid they told me if I enrolled in the Spring, I wouldn't get any aid. This is AFTER I had submitted my admissions form. So now after being admitted to the Spring, I'm having to request a change to enter the Fall term. It's been a week now and faxed, emailed, and made phone calls, but no word yet on the change. It's aggravating because now I have to decline my financial aid that was applied to Tarrant County for the Fall term... but I hate to cancel it before I know for sure I'm admitted at UNT for that term! But I have to cancel it at TCC before they can apply the aid at UNT because you can't have federal aid going to two schools. AARRGGGHHHH!
Anyway, enough of my rant. What you can take out of that mumbo-jumbo is that it looks like I'll be attending UNT in the Fall if all goes well. If. Oh yeah, and because of entering UNT early, that means I won't be completing my Associates at TCC. Oh well, I got most of the core curriculum crap out of the way. Just a final math class and my sciences to take at UNT. All the rest will be ART! The fun stuff!

It's my birthday and I'll cry if I want to...
Another birthday, 35 years and holding.
And I get to celebrate it by doing a TON of homework today and tomorrow. I'm busier than a one-legged man in a butt kicking contest- Government essay due, government exam, Photoshop project due, PowerPoint presentation due for painting class, homework painting to start on... plus need to finish planting my garden... housework... not enough hours in the day.
Anyway, happy birthday to me.

Another video...
Here's a funny parody of the creepiest man in magic, David Blaine:

Fun is not on the horizon...
Registration begins on April 15 for the Summer courses at TCC, so I've been plotting and planning my and Hubby's schedules. The summer is split up into 2 terms, Summer I and Summer II. For Summer II we'll both be taking the same classes (to again save on books, be study partners, etc), but for the first term he's taking classes that I've already completed. For the Summer and Fall terms I'll be finishing out my Associates degree, and then head up to UNT in the Spring term of 2009. That's the master plan anyway.
I'm just not looking forward to my remaining core curriculum classes at TCC.
How I'm scheduling myself:
Summer I-
Business Computer Applications
Chemistry I
Summer II-
Intermed Algebra
US Government
Fall-
Functional Approach to College Algebra
Chemistry II
Humanities- (haven't decided which yet)
Physical Education
My biggest dilemma was the Chemistry class. I have to take 2 science classes, and have a choice between Biology, Chemistry, Geology, or Physics. I couldn't care less about rocks and dirt so Geology is out. Physics takes a ton of math, no thank you I'm doing enough math as it is. So that left either Biology or Chemistry. This is where the websites like RateMyProfessor come in handy. If you have to take subjects you hate, why torture yourself with teachers that hate you back and lower your GPA? Check out the instructors first to see which ones you should sign up for. The comments written by other students about the instructors made the deciding factor: the Biology teachers suck and the Chemistry teachers are okay.... so chemistry it is!
For Humanities I have to decide between Philosophy, Ethics, American Literature, World Literature, or a foreign language. I took German in high school, but don't want to take it again. I don't know, maybe Philosophy or World Lit. I'll have to ask around to the other students on campus and find out what they've taken.
What's lousy is the government classes. I have to take both US and Texas Govt to get the Associates degree... and they do transfer over to UNT, however... they only transfer as Political Science classes and then I have to take both US and Texas Govt AGAIN for UNT Government credits! So the same damn classes twice. Have I mentioned I hate government? I think I have oh maybe once or five times?
But, I need to get these core classes completed now, as I damn sure don't want to take them all at the university level! I'm trying to keep my GPA as high as possible, so that means get all the cores I can at TCC where it's a little easier to get an A.
Notice there's no Art classes listed... I may take one in the Fall, but I'll probably wait until I get to UNT to take any more. After all, those are my focus for the Bachelors, so I feel I ought to take them at the better school. I just don't think I'll get much out of a Ceramics class where I'm at now, why waste the time and money. Although the art classes were the only things keeping me sane through all this math and english and government, lol.
Enough rambling. Just talking out my plan, and welcoming comments from y'all if ya have suggestions on what to take.
That is, if you all are still reading and haven't been bored to tears.
