Valentine's Day is for winers...
Hubby and I aren't the typical Valentine gift-givers... we're not into jewelry that you have to remortgage the house for, or grocery store bouquets of roses. Nope, we get different types of things, usually leaning towards the interesting.
Since I'm possibly starting a garden soon, he thought it would be neat to grow grapes. Hey, the more fruit the merrier as far as I'm concerned! I love my fruits. :-)
Plus, he's wanting us to try to make the grapes into wine. Umm, yeah. We'll see how that goes. But it's worth a try, it could be fun.
The first step of course is keeping the vine alive, and actually growing fruit. Considering how the anniversary chrysanthemums fared, wish us luck!

Congratulations on your 'wine' adventure. if Missourians can grow grapes and make wine, I'm sure Texans can do it likewise. I'll even find you the receipe...........you'll probably need to find a few dozen more vines for a 'vineyard' now,,,do you have a rocky slope in your backyard, and you'll need to learn to 'yodel' like they do in the Alps.............
Since I read they need lots of sun, I'm afraid I don't have the space in the backyard for a dozen vines. They have to be planted 8 feet apart! I may have enough sun at the back fence for a couple though. But I'm not about to go chopping down trees to have more sun in the rest of the yard, haha.
Up in KC an elderly fellow gave us a homemade bottle of blackberry wine, it was wonderful!
Hey, I'm elderly, from Missouri, perhaps I cold rustle up a bottle on my next visit to Texas or Oaklawn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mmmmm!
