Song Crossfire...

The direction this post goes is a bit more racy than normal for me, but I thought it leads to a funny website and am therefore sharing it.

The last several days I've had a song stuck in my head... "Sex and Candy" by Marcy Playground. I heard it on the radio the other night and it's been planted in my subconscious ever since, just as innocently as times when "Copacabana" or "Let It Snow" repeats in my brain like a broken record.

More irritating than having a song stuck in your head, is not knowing all the words to the song!

Hangin' 'round downtown by myself
And I had toomuch caffeine
And I was thinkin''bout myself
And then there she was
.......... hum hum hum hum hum hum..........
Yeah there she was
Like disco lemonade

So I turned to the Internet to find the lyrics. Upon doing so, I came across a website that not only gave me the lyrics, but it also debates the interpretations of the song with some humorous verbal jousting. I had had my own opinion of the meaning of it, but it's not near as fun as what these guys come up with (and no, I'm not sharing what my thoughts were on it!)

Anyway, the webpage is linked here. They also have a bunch of other songs they dissect, so I'll have to go play around on their site for some comic relief.

At least I feel Sex and Candy is a better song than what Hubby often has stuck in his head... the theme song to the sitcom Two And A Half Men:

"Men, men, men, men, MANLY men... woo hoo hoo woo hoo hoo hoo hoo... men, men, men men..."

hahaha

Jaydee! I was wondering where you were at. Was it the flu shot that made you sick? Most reports say that it doesn't make you sick but I say Bullhockey, I know I felt like crap after getting one last year. Regardless, hope you feel better.

And yes, don't tell Hubby, but I've always liked Charlie and brother Emilio :-)

Angela, I had my flu shot last October and it never makes me sick. I think I 'wore myself out' by going to Texas 3 times in Jan. We were on the go everyday and sitting for 2 days in the weather at Madre Gras didnt help. Better now, thinking of heading to Oaklawn soon.

Luv that word 'bullhockey' Mildred always said, dont say that, thats not nice ..........lol............thanks for the mempory.

JD, sorry you've been under the weather, glad you're getting better. Angela, just 2-3 days ago I was getting bombarded with "Sex and Candy", it must be out and floating around looking for somewhere to light. Anyway, I loved that song, so I was glad to get a little blast from the past.

Now don't go out trouncing around the countryside Jaydee until you're sure you're well. Spending the day at the races with Warlock might get you too worked up you know. And I stole that bullhockey word from Hubby, he uses it in his sales meetings.

Anna.... "I was getting bombarded with "Sex and Candy"... at first I thought it was because of your anniversary, LOL. I was going to say "Way to go George" haha.

I've just come from the website, I laughed until I cried! Didn't agree with them on much. BUT...who the hell knew Seal was saying "grave"? I thought it was "bay". Although one makes about as much sense as the other, only grave is sicker. I thought it was a love song. Guess not.

Yeah I know, that's a weird one. I knew the words, but you're right that makes it even harder to make sense of it.
I thought Darryl's explanation of "One Headlight" was interesting, I had never really thought about the meaning on that one.
One they should tackle explaining is "Interstate Long Song" by Stone Temple Pilots... I can only imagine what they'd come up with on that.
Anyway, glad you enjoyed the site!

Kiss From A Rose is from some movie, I think, so it might make more sense in context. My one-size-fits-all theory is that song lyrics usually aren't meant to have much meaning besides sounding psuedo-profound (try to make sense of any Elton John song, or for that matter STP or Foo Fighters, and you'll have to agree!LOL!)

thanks Anon (also known as one of our Oaklawn friends). Anniversaries and special days are rough, but we just try to keep walking ahead. I love Elton John's songs, I'll explain one to you one of these days in person,,,,,,,,"There was a time I was everything and nothing all in one, and when you found me I was feeling like a cloud across the sun". Oh well--------------
