Eventful day...

Hordes of people everywhere, practically half the town was there, police directing traffic in the parking lot, cars double parked in every square inch of space... you'd think the Pope had come to town.

Nope, it was the grand opening of the new Arby's restaurant.

I took this pic as I was leaving, after the chaos had died down quite a bit. See the fire lane? Cars were parking all along it around the building and on the road. In fact, I was parked another 50 feet away from where I'm standing here. The drive-thru line wrapped around the building and went out onto the street.

Inside it was a madhouse, you couldn't tell where the order line started and who was waiting for their order they already placed. Half the high school was working behind the counter, kids flying around prepping and bagging while managers wearing ties were working the deep fryers and trying to keep their ties out of the oil. When I made it up to the counter I remarked to an important looking man with a tie "Boy, did you have any idea Keller wanted an Arby's so bad?" He replied that they had already set a company record for a store's opening day.

In reality, we're just glad it's not another mexican restaurant.

So after taking this pic I got in my Jeep and turned the key... *click*. And tried again, *click*. Then I cussed a little. The starter had gone out.

Called Hubby... he then cussed a lot more than me... and came to save me. Actually a neighbor came to help save us too, and with his new truck he towed us home.

Bought a new starter from O'Reillys auto parts, hubby put it in and it turned out to be a bad one... so he took that one back out and now we have to wait until tomorrow for O'Reillys to get one from another store.

Oh well, had an excuse to take a day off work today. :)

Maybe the Lord was telling you to stay away from Arby's........we have one in the next town, but I guess I've never eaten there. Whats their specials?? There are a lot of Mexican Restaurants in DFW, when I come to FW we're always discussing,,,,now which Tex-Mex this time. Karen loves Mexican and I'm beginning to take a taste for it also. Mild though, nothing HOT.

Hope you get that darn starter working, wouldnt it be nice to ride horses again??

Try to enjoy your weekend now...jaydee

Jaydee, hubby's been waiting 3 weeks for this Arby's to open... ever since we moved here 4 years ago he's said "I wish we had an Arby's near here!" I have a feeling I'm going to be sick of the place in no time.

In answer to your question, their main feature is a roast beef sandwich on an onion roll bun, with a glop of fluorescent orange melted cheese.

And any time I buy gas I wish we were riding horses again!

anytime i get gas i eat some rolaids hahaha
I had to crawl under Nancy's buick and put her starter on a couple of weeks ago.I took the battery to Wal M and they said the battery was bad was happy that thats what it might be then installed it and nope not that so went and got the starter.i have worked on cars for years and years and putting a strater on a car at home with out power tools and without a rack to raise it is IMHO the worst job to do at home haha.Yeah Puddin i have gotten bad starter's and alt's from the auto parts store and its a #%^#^##$ when you have to do it 2 times haha.

I like Arby's dont eat there a lot.we eat at Rally's prolly more for fast food than any where Ronnie

Hey Ronnie
Yeah finally got a good starter to put in... at least hubby put it in faster since he's had enough practice now, haha.

In the future we'll have OReillys bench test it first in the store before buying. But when the first starter didn't work he tested it jumped off the Jeep's battery, and sure enough it took 10 times to get it to finally engage and run... so then when we took it back to the store we had them bench test it to see what would happen, and sure enough it worked. We're guessing the jolt of it working the 10th time finally got it going. Still, we exchanged it for another one. That's not the only time we've gotten a bad starter from an auto parts place, one from AutoZone a few years ago was bad too. But according to the sticker on this one they are "Remanufactured in Mexico" so what do you expect, haha.

We don't have a Rolly's here, never heard of it. Must be like "Whataburgers" are here in Texas. ;)
