I've framed my avatar!...

I've entered an art contest, the first one I've attempted since high school. My mother's husband works for DFW International Airport, and they're having a juried art contest for employees and their family. The judges are actual art critics (one a nationally-recognized gallery owner and another on the board of the Fort Worth Public Arts Council). Better yet, they're offering money prizes. But for the contest exhibition area they chose the car rental area... seems like a weird-ass place for fine art, but hey whatever. Publicity is publicity, I guess it beats hanging them in the airport restrooms...

So anyway, I went scrambling around the house last night trying to get my "Peace Rules & Edgar Prado" picture framed... I just happened to have a frame with another pic in it that matched this artwork, so it was a mad rush to take the frame/matting apart and try to bit-n-piece it back together. I think it came out rather nice looking though:

Yes, the frame's a tad big, but it's what I had laying around the house...

The exhibition starts March 23... so if you happen to fly in to the DFW Airport and need to rent a car, be sure to take a glance around at the entries. And cross your fingers & toes for me to actually win something :)

A funny note: I was on the college campus website looking up some info, and happened across the campus calendar. It showed the upcoming events for this month, meetings, etc. But what made me laugh out was a listing on one date for

"Binge Drinking"

That's all it said. But it was even funnier that it followed right after the "Christian Student Ministries meeting". Haha, I can hear it now,

"All you Pentecostals can go home, and all you Baptists & Methodists follow me..."

hehehe
